FCPX - Browser to Timeline - synch problems

Hello all,

So I have some footage recorded on a Canon R6, recorded with in-camera audio, no external audio device used. In the browser the footage is in synch, though when i insert a clip into a project timeline, the audio / video is out of synch. This doesn't happen with the clips from my Canon 5D Mk 3. I have used a timeline in a 'project' to store lots of clips from both cameras.

In the timeline, when i detach the audio, the Source Timecode says video/ audio are in synch.

Very confused and I have a deadline for this project.

Any ideas about what is going on?

Thanks - Jamie

Here is the thing: there is some mismatch in how the clips' frame rates are interpreted.

The Inspector, like Quicktime Player, and MediaInfo, all report the clip as 25fps.

I put the clips in a 25fps project, they play in sync.

However, if I create a project with automatic settings for one of these clips, the project comes out at 23.98fps, and then I see the audio and video out of sync.

Interesting. "However, if I create a project with automatic settings for one of these clips, the project comes out at 23.98fps" Can't reproduce that. Automatic creates a 25 project for me. The media should not go out of sync in a 23.98 project. It's not drift it's out of sync from the beginning.

Depending on which media has the most footage, and what frame rate needs to be delivered, I'd suggest using Compressor to convert the files.

I converted the 25 to 23.976, and it played correctly in the 23.98 project. The 23.976 conversion also plays perfectly, as it should, in the 25fps project.
