Can I add phone number vs Apple ID
how do I add my phone number for iMessages on my iPad. I got a new phone and the setup changed the contact info on my iPad to Apple ID

If your phone number has changed, you’ll need to update your phone number in iPad settings:
Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Name, Phone Numbers, Email > [Contactable At] - tap Edit and make changes as required
Next, update your Messages settings:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive - enable and disable as required
