After Apple turns off activation lock for me, does the device wipe automatically?

After apple turns off activation lock for me does the device wipe automatically when it gets an internet connection. I'm far away from my external drive and can't back up my files currently. Thought it would take much longer to approve removal. Been staying offline on the MacBook just in case.

Thanks.

Hi Georgeiy,

That's a great question. If Apple removes Activation Lock for you, you would need to erase your Mac and reinstall macOS yourself in order to use your Mac again. Also keep in mind that restoring a backup of your Mac could enable Activation Lock again.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
