Is there a difference betweeen iwatches sold in the US then ones sold in china

Yes, and lots of people have purchased the watch in China. If it is a GPS+Cellular Watch there are two regions for cellular, North America and Puerto Rico and the rest of the world. The Chinese version will not work in the North America region and you would need to return to China for hardware service. If you are referring to a GPS only Watch there isn't any difference.
