A stack of recent apps in the Dock ?

In Mojave (don't know about the interim macos releases) you could run this

command in the terminal:

% defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add '{"tile-data" = {"list-type" = 1;}; "tile-type" = "recents-tile";}'; killall Dock

and you would get astack containing recent applications in the dock (See picture below), but this

does not seem to work anymore, does anyone know how to accomplish this in Monterey (12.4) ?

Dock has section reserved for specific use.

I never found it practical to have "recents" in the menu bar at all.

There is a user preferences to turn this off >System Preferences>Dock & Menu bar

If your command no longer works, then it no longer works.

NB.: This was in reply to leroydouglas' post above. In the meantime

Luis Sequeira1 had posted a solution to my query.

And you don't know of a solution, I get that and why would you since

as you write: 'I never found it practical to have "recents" in the menu

bar at all') (sic) Concluding that the command no longer works is a truism.

But is it possible that there's an alternative way to bring about what I'm after?

It's possible, yes? Also those links you give holds zero relevance for the question

at hand. But again…thanks for taking the time to reply once more.
