I'm trying to help somebody with an iPhone, trying to use iPhone Messenger. They get a small popup, (a red circle surrounded by white, and an up arrow in a conversation icon) which they can't remove, which stops them accessing some of the keys. How can they get rid of this please?

The icon in the photo you posted appears when you touch and hold the audio message option in a conversation in Messages.
Send an audio message
1. In a conversation, touch and holdto record an audio message.
2. Tapto listen to your message before you send it.
3. Tapto send the message or
to cancel.
