what if my photos aren’t appearing on my Mac book

Wondering what you are doing, or trying to do, to expect the Photos ( from iPhone, or iCloud?) to appear on your Mac:

eg sync photos or import photos ?

or

Maybe the Photos are on iCloud but Mac is not turned on to sync the photos ?

or

Maybe the Photos that are usually on the Mac are missing ?
