Apple Watch 7 and Voice Feedback

I have an Apple Watch 7. . I want to turn on the voice feedback function for my workouts. I do have it toggled on in settings. And for a short while I was getting a report on each mile. Then during a rainstorm I was trying to operate the watch and now I can't get voice feedback. I can't help thinking I accidentally pushed a button that turned it off. Any ideas?
