Cannot change Siri's voice

I have an iPhone SE running iOS 15.5. When I follow the instructions to change Siri's voice, I am able to select a new voice; however, when I use Siri or Maps or any application in which Siri speaks, I continue to hear the old voice. This is strange because the change that I made is visible in iOS: the new voice shows as "default." But all I hear is the old voice.

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that the voice you're hearing when you summon Siri isn't the same voice you've chosen. Please check this help article: Change Siri voice or language

Also, make a voice selection in Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices. Is the voice you have chosen here the same voice that you're hearing?
