You are going to have to be more explicit in what you are calling a 'highlight' color because it appears none of us have any issues with what we think of as a 'highlight' color.
Perhaps take a screen shot and point out the 'highlights' you don't see.

Now, how about someone informing us as to how to adjust the chroma (intensity), vibrance, density) of the 'highlight' colors - any/all of them. If this is not possible, then please explain why not.
You can't change them because they are coded into the OS.
Feel free to send Apple feedback.
Is this “highlight” as when you use markup tools, for example, in Preview, or is this “select”?
Is this happening only in one specific display? What color profile is selected for this display? Check in System Preferences->Displays and let us know.
What highlight colours...? You mean when you select words, like this...? I can see that perfectly well - you can always select a different colour. I have my highlight colour set to 'accent colour' so it changes depending on what app I'm using. In Notes, it's yellow; in Safari, it's blue. Are you telling me that neither of these highlight colours is visible to you...? I have an M1 Max MacBook Pro running 12.4. Looks fine to me - are you sure it's the computer/macOS and not your eyes...?
pale pale pale (dim, washed out, etc) pink is not Not NOT red
So, first my vision is 'questioned'. Then my application on a common English word challenged. Everyone here (especially me) knows exactly what a highlight is). Look! I've been 'highlighting' on a Mac for longer than many of you have been alive, with somewhere around 2 dozen CPU's., probably well over 50 OS variants. I do know what a highlight is, how it works, how its selected, used and why. Fine, none of you have this issue. I get that I never have seen this issue before either. There is absolutely nothing 'wrong' with my eyesight. Now, how about someone informing us as to how to adjust the chroma (intensity), vibrance, density) of the 'highlight' colors - any/all of them. If this is not possible, then please explain why not. Thank you - in advance - presuming someone can actually address the specific question/problem rather than 'challenge' the questioners veracity, competence and/or integrity.
So, I interpret that to mean that I have installed a bogus copy of 12.4 from Apple (and 12.0.1 that came installed on the M1 Mini)) and everyone else got good copies. I find that to be incomprehensible ntm preposterous. I should have known better than to get 'help' (ntm respectful consideration) from this 'community'. My bad.

ANY aka ALL 'highlight' color are basically INVISIBLE on my 4K monitor - ALL other colors (websites, movies, etc.) are fine.
Looks fine to me.
