This is so obvious for all the original DVR reasons.
Watch program A (NBA finals?) while recording Program B?
I travel with my Apple TV and an HDMI cable for hotels, etc. This would be particularly useful when traveling to locations without good internet connections or to locations that throttle performance.

Apple TV's are not DVRs as you know, they are streaming devices, personally I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for DVR abilities from an Apple TV.
