iPhone 12 Pro Max Overheating!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I am having serious issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max constantly overheating to the point that is almost unusable. I am finding that I have to Hard Reset or Turn my phone off 2 -4 times a day.

I'm not running any apps in the background and have tried resetting the settings.

Battery Health is at 89%.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix this short of completely restoring the device back to new (Which is very undesirable)

I'm trying to get this handset through to the release of new handsets as I have no interest at all in the iPhone 13 Pro Max

No I'm not getting the temperature warning message. I'm resetting the phone or turning it off before it gets to that point.

It is generally while using the phone. But seem to matter what apps I'm using it just seems to not be able to cope.

Yes I always update my Apps in the morning. And iOS when it is released

I feel like something is up because I'm having the EXACT same issue with my 12 Pro Max... Just started happening very recently. I really hope anyone else experiencing this issue posts here to bring awareness.

Are you getting the temperature warning message?

Is it only hot during use or charging?

Is the iOS and all apps up to date?

Thanks. The phone is designed to let heat from use escape thru the case.

I’d further look at If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support

Hello Astroboy732, I know you said not running any background apps, but do you use Facebook? Facebook uses a lot of video & CPU processing time causing more heat.
