Why does my 9th gen iPad battery die so fast?
Note, the iPad selection box in the support topic only goes up to 6th generation. There is no 9th generation option.
I’m getting about 4 hours of screen time for a fully charged iPad 9th gen battery. The unit is less than a month old. I’ve already factory reset it. Doing things like using low power mode and turning off background app refresh makes very little difference.
I can still to this day get about 8 hours of screen time on my 6 year old iPad Air 2. When it was new I was getting 10 hours.
I’ve already factory reset the unit which made no difference. This unit was bought from Amazon new (not a warehouse deal). Is it possible the battery has degraded from sitting on the shelf for a long time?
Apple no longer allows you to decode the manufacture date from the serial number and they’ve also hidden the battery health meter. This tells me apple doesn’t want customers knowing how old their new units really are and if the batteries are ok.
I’ve started the return to Amazon but on the off chance there’s a way to fix this and that it isn’t really a hardware issue, then I’d like to keep it.
