If you can't remember the password, you will not be able to read those notes.

There is no way around that.

You had to explicitly set a password for your encrypted notes before you would have been able to use faceid to unlock them.

There is a hint that was created by you for locked Notes, please use them. If you do not have one then please keep trying various passwords known to you.

There is no way of resetting the Notes password, however, you can create a new password for the new Notes that you would lock or create.

The only option that you have is to keep trying as there is no limit on the number of attempts.

However, you can set a new password for your new notes, but for the old notes, you need to get the old password only.

If you have imported some notes from Old iPhone to the new one then you will have to attach the password to the new Touch ID / Face ID on your new iPhone. At some given time you must have created a password and enabled touch Id / Face ID to the password. Any Notes created thereafter will only use your Touch ID / Face ID. Because of this, it is very likely that you may not recall the password now.

Face ID / Touch IDs are not transferable from one device to another.

I am having (I think) the same issue and I've seen the same posted answer to everyone else having this issue - it is NOT an issue of forgetting the password, there is some sort of glitch changing it and/or not allowing FaceID to work.

My phone also stopped using the FaceID to unlock my notes even though it is still toggled on and was never toggled off. It was working fine yesterday and I changed nothing. Now FaceID suddenly won't work and it is asking for a password and giving me a hint that I did not create - I know I did not create this hint because this words means absolutely nothing to me, it's a word I would never have even thought of to use as a hint and is definitely not related to any password I've ever created - I DID NOT MAKE IT.

The same thing happened a few weeks ago. I used my iPhone account password (which it accepted so obviously it was right) and I reset my iCloud password making it my go to/simple/fall back password. For whatever reason when I did that it went back to using FaceID and had been working fine since. Now the same thing happened again but the same trick isn't working. Even though I know I used the same password for all my Apple related stuff, and when I changed it I made it super easy (even though it shouldn't have changed the existing pw), I tried every password I use for every account - including work accounts that I usually don't use for personal stuff and common fat-finger mistakes.

I know you cannot reset the password on existing notes and I know you need to password to enable FaceID - that is not the problem we are having. We need help with whatever glitch is automatically turning FaceID off and changing the notes password/hint.
