macbook pro 2021 touch bar not working, not showing volume/brightness sliders

my touchbar was working fine up until about a week ago, when it suddenly stopped showing the volume brightness sliders and the option to activate siri. it works just fine when i open a text box or the web browser, but it's stopped showing those sliders and options for absolutely no reason. i've restarted my computer about 5 times now, shut it down fully and restarted it again, and updated it, and nothing's helped. i've looked in the system preferences and all of those sliders are listed on what's on my touchbar, but none of them ever show up outside the login screen. does anyone know why this may be happening and what i can do to fix it?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

Follow these steps, testing after each step:

If that didn’t work, then I recommend service.
