My Iphone 6 doesn't show new updates but when I go on to check if there is a new update, it says my phone is up to date on version iOS 12.5.5

I searched it up on the internet and it says that apple doesnt support this phone anymore, so does that mean my phone wont be notified for the new updates? or what should I do?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Your phone cannot be updated beyond 12.5.5. If you want to run newer software, you’ll need a new phone
