Mail App using too much storage

i have an XS 64gb. My mail app is using 8Gb of storage even though i have minimal use of it. i removed my acc and deleted the app yet no difference. I have no media in my mail.

One or two of the emails that you have may have a large attachment which is making the storage so heavy.

This can be known when you log into the email account using a web browser.
