Apple Pencil docked notification

I have just gotten an IPad Pro 5th Gen and pencil 2 gen.

With the pencil docked watching a programme I am regularly getting a notification that it’s is charging.

Apart from taking the pencil off is there something else I can do, or is this a sign of damage.

Is your Pencil making direct contact with your iPad’s inductive charging dock? If not, or if there is any material of film between the iPad and the physical body of the Apple Pencil - or if misaligned when docked - you may experience an intermittent charging connection.

Some iPad cases can interfere with correct placement of the Pencil.
