Having trouble backing up my iPhone. I’m connected to Wi-Fi. How do I lock my phone so it will backup iCloud?

Locking your phone simply means putting it to sleep by tapping the side or top power button. Locking your phone isn’t necessary to perform a manual backup. It would help if you could describe what happens when you go to Settings>Your Name>iCloud>iCloud Backup>On>Backup Now.
You can try restarting your phone and rebooting your router to see if that helps. You can also try another WiFi network.
