C7 cable for MacBook Pro Powerbrick
Is the AC input of a MBP Powerbrick simply a C7 Jack? So a standard C7 cable can be used to connect it to AC?
MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.4

No; MrSchrom
although a c7 cable might technically work, you see that big metal stud/post at the bottom?? That’s for mechanical support, to endure a tight fit and for grounding. Please, use an Apple “ duckhead” plug and cable appropriate to your country /region and not a cheapo c7 cable

I recognized that metal post and also know that the original cable extension has a ground connection to that pin, but I never saw the need for that personal safety can't be the reason since the non cable duckhead plug that is delivered with the power brick also doesn't have a ground pin. Mechanical stability, okay... but also the c7 sits tight.
As long it doesn't damage the power brick or the MB due to wrong pinning it seems fine for temporary use where a C7 cable is already in place.
Apple also sells a six-foot fully grounded "extension cord" cable (it connects the ground to the raised lug on the blurry edge of your photo) for about US$20.
