It is extremely unlikely that someone can remotely access the data on your phone unless you have previously allowed this to occur, but it would not hurt to change your Apple ID and password.

It is not possible to remote control your iPhone unless it was physically hacked by someone who had possession of it for a half hour or more while it was unlocked.
If this did happen restore it to factory settings and set it up as a new phone→Restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support. Do not restore a backup.
That simply means that your screen digitizer has failed. It does not mean your phone was hacked. If it only happens when the phone is plugged in try replacing the cable. If it happens at other times get the screen replaced→iPhone Screen Repair & Replacement - Official Apple Support
1) I have seen them take control of my iphone 12 and attempt to switch apps.
2) I have seen them type on my keyboard, mostly to interrupt my typing.
3) Last night they typed “Me CCP” followed by giberrish.

If this only happens when connected to a charging cable, that indicates a faulty cable.
If it happens whether or not it’s plugged in, that’s symptomatic of a failing touch screen. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar and get it fixed.
My Iphone 12 has never been in anyone else’s possession since I bought it from Tmobile. , And it has always been password locked.
i have now witnessed 5 times when someone took control of my keyboard and 2 of those times took control of my entire phone.
The IOS is up to date.
What? You are saying my screen digitizer failed, and that failure involves typing out actual words ? In some of the cases I switched apps to see if it had something to do with a single app or was happening consistently. At first, it was only within a certain app. But then after switching apps there was no issue typing. Switching back, it was still there typing. Then I witnessed them close that app and open another. I saw them repeatedly try to type in passcodes to things which failed. If the screen digitizer is an advanced AI with autonomy, then I might need to reconsider. Otherwise it appears to be a human with remote access. Access I never granted.
Because part of the digitizer failure affects the keyboard buffer so the screen randomly recalls previous keystrokes and enters them. That is the hallmark of a digitizer failure and what you are describing fits it to a tee. Get the display replaced.
No one has remote access to your phone, unauthorized or otherwise.
Why do you think this is the case?
I have done that.
How would knowing an Apple ID or Apple password allow someone remote access?
NO ONE is “taking control” of anything. It’s a hardware fault. Get it fixed.
How does a hardware fault cause the phone to open a message app, open a contact chat history and scroll to a military photo of my father? Then type “Me CCP” on my keyboard! ??
Fine. Believe what you want. I’m done.
