USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter Not working properly.

I am looking to use this device for hdmi to tv and usb a to external dac ( dragonfly black). The hdmi functions as expected. The dac however is not. I can select it in sound as output in system preferences however sound is not being passed through to dragonfly. Sound is being processed internally and passed to amplifier. Have tried reattaching dongle, restarting music app. Using MacBook Pro 13 2017, Monterey os. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Markaus1,

For this, you'll need Audio MIDI Set Up: https://www.audioquest.com/resource/1356/DragonFly-Black-Red-FlightManual-EN.pdf Check out pages 12-13 specifically, it walks you through how to set it up.

Another good resource, may be: Set up MIDI devices using Audio MIDI Setup on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know if that helps out, cheers!

Thanks for that. The info cleared up why the dac doesn't respond to varying lossless file rates. iOS is implemented as exclusive mode for otg DACs. This means the data bit rate and frequency is automatically defected by the dac and processed bit perfect. MacOs doesn't allow exclusive mode so if Data is not what is set in midi settings it is either sampled up or down depending. Very strange and disappointing given they provide lossless options in music. Cheers.
