Does anybody know why an HDMI extender (over Cat) works on a 2011 mini (High Sierra) but not a 2014 mini (Monterey)? Nobody at Apple has been able to help. I bought a new extender with updated HDCP permissions but it too only works with the 2011 mini. I need to make it work or find an alternative (but not Airplay).

I was able to solve this problem by using an inexpensive EDID emulator with the newer HDMI extender. Probably the best value I ever got for $20 after weeks of inquiries, discussion, and troubleshooting.
Thank you for your input. The latter two are not options for me, but your suggestion to look for an extender stated to be Mac compatible is a great one.
If anyone else knows why the problem occurs or a way to resolve it with what I already have, please let me know.

There’s no mention of Apple anywhere, not even in the reviews or questions. Stick to the mini 2011, later Macs won’t play, or do without it by placing the Mac within 5’. Good luck!
