Why wont apple accept my legitimate payment method?

I keep trying to add a payment method (Debit card) but I get an error message that my card can’t be accepted. Please help

Payment Method Not Accepted I tried adding a payment method in Settings so that I can make purchase on App Store and it said that it could not verify the card and asked to contact Apple Support. The card details are definitely correct though.

If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store
