Apple watch battery swollen

The battery of my series 6 GPS watch (44mm) has randomly swollen. As it is out of warranty , apple care centre in my city asked me a huge amount (₹28,000) for replacing my watch. I read somewhere that apple replaces swollen batteries for upto 3 years of purchase. Is this valid in my case as my watch is less than 3 years old ?

Given that we are just fellow users, we don't "let" anyone here do anything. After all, it's not as if we can stop them.

It does not appear to be one of the current Apple Service Programs:

Apple Service Programs - Apple Support

However, I suggest you take the matter up with Apple directly. Either by contacting customer support using the "Get Support" link at the top right of every page of this forum or by using the options in this link:

I talked to apple support and also went to a service centre. I was told that there was no other option except to pay for a replacement which is very scummy on apple’s part as the swollen battery issue has been acknowledged by apple in previous models. I would be forced to rely on 3rd party technicians which wouldn’t be an issue if they provided cheap repairs/battery replacement.

Apple is one of the reputable brands but, definitely, it's product lines are not really perfect.

Definitely, there will be an instance when a device has a bug or a device will have a component problem (similar to your case) which Apple's warranty will not cover.

With every device comes cost. As to whether or not the amount is reasonable will, generally, be based on how a person understands the value of the device (or the software product) vis-a-vis the cost it would take to have it repaired or adjusted.

Should you feel that the cost and quality of a third party repair service will be proportional to your expectations, let alone, commensurate to how you value the Apple product you have, we will be glad to let you proceed as we know you're responsible enough to understand that with whatever cost-and-benefit approach you've considered, you're happy to accept the level of risk in "investing" [again] for such a repair service. Availing for an Apple repair service also has risks; arguably.
