Apple wallet issue

Hi- wondering if anyone can help (using an iPhone SE). I believe that there has been an app update to the wallet meaning you have to use Touch ID to first open the wallet, rather than it just opening allowing you to select the card you want to pay with. The problem I’m having with this is no matter how brief I keep my finger on the button, it then automatically pays as well with the default card and not just the wallet to allow me to select a different one. Any ideas?
