I have the same issue —

  • Samsung A50 running Android 11 and latest version of WhatsApp.
  • iPhone 6S Plus which is reset and has iOS 15.5.

Everything is working but the option for WhatsApp in transfer data does not appear...

It should look like this:

It seems there is some missing step or setting but I have no idea what.

It could be that it has not rolled out to all platforms yet...

Note: We have used the OnePlus Nord running Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 and iPhone SE 2 running iOS 15.5 to test the WhatsApp data transfer feature in this tutorial. Also, we would like to point out that the data transfer feature is rolling out in stages and it did not work with Android 11 (Asus ROG Phone 5s)...

I've already read a lot of relevant posts, everyone referred to the same principles. But no one can answer why for some people/devices who have the correct software versions of android, ios and the apps, the WhatsApp option is not shown.

So it is not the problem that the data transfer fails in any way, but that the WhatsApp option is missing to be able to select!!

Hello,

This article will show you how to make the switch from Android to iOS easily:

Move from Android to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

You can also choose to transfer WhatsApp data.

https://faq.whatsapp.com/530788665445780/?helpref=uf_share

Below is an explanation from Macworld's website that also explains how it works and what exactly is needed.

There are a few things you’ll require before being able to make the transfer.

On your Android phone:

  • Android 5 or above
  • Move to iOS app
  • WhatsApp version 2.22.7.74 or later
  • Connected to a power source
  • Connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone (or connected to the iPhone’s hotspot)

On your iPhone:

  • iOS 15.5 or later
  • WhatsApp version 2.22.10.70 or later
  • The same phone number as your Android phone (same SIM)
  • iPhone must be factory reset or new, as it needs to connect to Move to iOS app on Android
  • Connected to a power source
  • Connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Android phone (or using its hotspot with the Android device)

This is a very new WhatsApp feature. It doesn’t work with WhatsApp for Business, and only works with specific versions of Android OS and WhatsApp versions. As WhatsApp is not an Apple product neither Apple nor the other users in this forum can provide much guidance. I suggest exploring the WhatsApp FAQ page, or try contacting WhatsApp support (but good luck with that 😒)

Yes it is a new whatsapp feature but I meet all the requirements set by whatsapp, on all whatsapp faq you can find all support as described earlier in this post by @truefeatherbelly, but that does not seem to be the issue here.

The app where all this comes together is the move to IOS app on Android which is developed and managed by Apple itself.

No version number is described anywhere, the only thing I can figure out is that ver 3.3.1 is the most recent version that I can pick up from the play-store and install.

And this seems to be an answer from WhatsApp help and support team: "This is an upcoming feature that we are slowly rolling out and will soon be available to users everywhere. We appreciate your patience as we continue to improve the app experience for you by launching new features and updates".

Also from chat related to video below : "The feature is only available on the WhatsApp Beta program which is currently full on the Google Play store. So until there is an update, you probably can't get the feature to work yet."

I use language/region nl/nl (Dutch, Netherlands) This language is also included in the Whatsapp Beta version.

I just mentioned above that it works, but with a small caveat, the transfer to my iPhone is still a few hours in progress. I still have to start restoring WhatsApp.

But showing the WhatsApp option in "Move to IOS" was the struggle I tried to overcome.

Note: Are u using a second WhatsApp version as a dual-sim app?

I was using that until yesterday but replaced by WhatsApp for Business and removed it.

Tried all starting from 14.12, 14.14, 14.16, 14,70 and ending with 15.4. Also checking on WhatsApp that is beta as you pointed :( and restarting the phone after installing the beta.

Beta seems to be one of the prerequisite, but there is also something else that I am missing. The iPhone is brand new, I have upgraded it to IOS15.5 than reset it again.
