Breaking down a personal DVD to individual files

I burned a DVD a few years ago of some family videos using Toast, and now want to get those indivdual files back. Toast doesn't seem to be able to help. Can I do this any other way on my mac?

copying personal DVDs to an external hard drive I have multiple DVDs I created years ago with home videos on them - id like to transfer them all to on external hard drive to store them more easily and to be able to replay them on my MacBook if I want to. the videos on the dvds are stored in UDF format I bought a superdrive to "play them" on my Mac and they do play. I used disk utility to copy them to my MacBook reformatting them to dvd/cd master format - I then copied them to the external hard drive. I have only done 3 dvds so far but when I go back to see if they can play from the external hard drive using the DVD player on my MacBook -- only one plays no matter which one I select. what have I done wrong? thank you for any help!!

Deleting VTS_01.VOB files I am trying to clean up my computer. Transferred my old time machine files to my new Mac Studio. Looking at my large files, I have several VTS_01.VOB files, looks like when I created lots of DVD videos with iDVD. Does anyone know if it's safe to delete all these files, considering iDVD no longer exists? Will I be able to still open my videos? I wasn't sure what these files are. They are rather large, 1 GB each. If responses can be "non-technical", that would be great since I know just basic info. :)

If the media is still readable, HandBrake can usually access its contents: https://handbrake.fr/
