Why can't I swipe up or down on Apple Watch face anymore?

I have the Apple Watch 7 with up to date software. I used to be able swipe up on the watch face and see the battery level. I used to be able to swipe down the watch face and see the notifications it says came in. All that stopped. How can I get those functions back? Thanks.

If you Restart your Apple Watch, your problem will likely go away.
