As described by Lobsterghost1, the iPad was not properly prepared/erased of all locally stored data before signing-in with your Son’s AppleID.
If your Passwords (saved in your Keychain) new appear on the iPad, be aware that all of your iCloud data (such as Contacts, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Keychain/Passwords etc.) will very likely have been merged with your Son’s AppleID account. There is no “undo” function to reverse the merge; the only way to resolve an unintended merge is to manually remove each and every corresponding entry from your Son’s account.
As such, unless you first manually expunge merged data from your Son’s AppleID account, simply starting again with an erase and setup of the iPad may not resolve your issue.
Before ever giving away an iPad to somebody else, it is essential that the iPad is properly wiped of all data - before the new User has opportunity to sign-in or setup the iPad.

The only way your keychain passwords could appear on the iPad would be if you did not properly prepare the iPad for a new user.
