USB and Bluetooth mice stopped connecting to Mac

Wondering if anyone has troubleshooting ideas... I have an old cheese grater Mac that has never had a problem. Yesterday with no symptoms of any problems, my USB and my Bluetooth mouse won't connect.

I have tried both mice on another Mac and they work fine. Bluetooth mouse is charged. USB ports work fine with other devices.

I have used keyboard shortcuts to get to the mouse preferences and it just says there is no mouse connected.

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

1.. Shut the machine down.

2.. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any peripheral devices.

3.. leave it for 10 minutes.

4.. Hold power Button in for 10 seconds

5.. Connect everything back up and restart.
