Facebook app cannot connect & no internet message.

Hi, I have searched everywhere regarding this problem but all the solutions offered have proved unsuccessful. My friend has an iPad and when he tries to connect via the Facebook app, it says no internet connection. BUT THERE IS! He can connect to the internet using other apps without a problem and to FB via their website. He has tried every reset imaginable. He’s even bought a new iPad but the problem remains. I can connect without a problem on my iPad at his house, but he cannot connect at mine via my router. Incidentally, when he switches on his iPad, the wireless symbol appears momentarily and the disappears although he is connected okay. Same thing with his previous iPad and same happens at my house. We are both tearing our hair out with this problem.

To repeat we have both searched the net for a solution, but everyone offered doesn’t work.

Anyone please?

BTW he has an Android phone with no similar problems.

Thanks.

Perhaps your friend has iPadOS15 WiFi Private Addressing enabled - this being enabled by default. The WiFi Private Address feature provides additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks. This feature is largely unnecessary for a home WiFi network - and may, in some circumstances, disrupt network connectivity.

This feature is configured for each WiFi network to which you connect. As a diagnostic exercise, try disabling this feature:

Settings > WiFi > [Your Network Name / SSID] - tap the blue “i” icon - Private Wi-Fi Address - set to OFF

Does your friend have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security App such as Norton? These sometimes cause issues with one or more installed Apps. If affected, the resolution is usually simple - simply requiring that the VPN/Security App to temporarily disabled or removed.

If this resolves your issue, the VPN and/or security App can be reinstated after the connectivity problem has been resolved.
