Why won't my USB SuperDrive play some of my older movies on my 2020 MacBook Pro?

Does it play anything? If not, connect it directly to your Mac. Use a simple passthrough adapter if you need one but not a hub or dock.

If it just doesn't play the old movies, you may not be in the correct DVD region.

Change your DVD drive region in DVD Player on Mac - Apple Support

Or the disks could be dirty or damaged
