Managed Bookmarks temporary folder in chrome on iphone

When I bookmark a page in chrome on my iphone 12, it automatically goes to a folder called "Managed Bookmarks". In that folder, I cannot edit or move the bookmark (the buttons are grayed out). Furthermore, when I close chrome and reopen, the Managed Bookmark folder and its bookmarks are gone! Apparently its a temporary folder, so now I cannot save bookmarks.

I *can* reach all the folders and the bookmarks I have created over the last couple of years. This problem just started a few days ago. Thanks for any help,
