activation help

restoring old ipad (my moms) and have removed the device from the previous owners profile, but it is still asking for a password.

iPad, iPadOS 14

If it is asking for the previous owner's password, the previous owner's profile wasn't removed.


The previous owner needs to go to https://www.icloud.com/find/ and erase the device, then remove it from their account. If they won't do that, the device is useless. Apple won't unlock it.


Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support.   *
