photos taking too much memory iphone

Hi. My photos are taking up too much memory on my phone. I have an iCloud account with plenty of space and my photos automatically get saved on the iCloud. Can I offload my photos app to make space on my phone without losing my photos? Any other recommendations to make space on my phone? Thanks.
