It is up to you, what you want to keep in iCloud.
You need only theorems in iCloud, that you want to keep in sync across all your devices.
Are you using more than one Apple device and want to keep your documents and data identical? Your Mail, your Contacts, your Calendar? Your Photos, your Books, ..?
Keep the things that need to be in sync in iCloud, but remove older data, that are no longer relevant. For Media like photos and videos, keep the absolute favourites in iCloud, that you really want to see on all devices, and achieve the other items on a computer.
