Watch

I have a query regarding my apple watch which was a gift from my son, i dropped the watch while putting it on and couldnt believe that the glass shattered on the watch, I actually thpught that there was plastic over the screen but realised to my horror that the glass actually shattered from a simple fall, im absolutely heartbroken to hear that it cannot be replaced as i am normally so careful with my possessions. Is it true that it would be the same to buy a new watch than to replace the glass. Gutted
