I cannot set up 2-factor authentication in Family Set up

I'm setting up an apple watch for my child but since this is their first device, it says I cannot set up 2-factor authentication and won't let me proceed in setting up the apple watch.

Can I activate my Apple Watch without two factor authentication? I would love to use my Apple watch without being forced into 2FA. My company recently upgraded our phones and to link it to the watch, it's requiring 2FA. The only phone I have is a company phone and should I decide to leave my company, I would be effectively locked out of my devices. I have no interest in paying for a phone, just to satisfy a companies need for invading our privacy. Is there a way to active an Apple product without this nonsense or am I going to be forced to chunk this Apple watch and move to a company that doesn't require me to jump through hoops to use their stuff? Couldn't complete setting up my old watch with my new phone. Half way through pairing my old watch to my new phone, I get: "Couldn't set up your Apple Watch. Setting up your apple watch requires the latest account security. With an option to upgrade it. Then I get: "Setting up Apple Watch Cannot be set up" "This feature requires two-factor authentication. The Apple Account (Mine) does not support two-factor authenitication. IOS on phone is up to date - oops 18.1.1 is now available Two Factor is on in my apple account Rebooted and reloaded too much to count. Updating the IOS now and will try again
