Geo-restrictions on the App Store

How do I download basic applications while traveling abroad? The Geo-restrictions make it impossible to use my iPhone when I am on a work trip/vacation outside my own country. Changing countries on my Apple ID terminates all my subscriptions. I travel abroad quite often and this has become a real pain point. Is there a reason Apple hasn’t addressed this issue?
