You can still use a passcode to protect data on your iPhone. See the following article for more info:

If you do not have fingerprints that the sensor on the iPhone can recognize, you will have to continue to use the passcode on the iPhone. Are you saying that you have no fingerprint on any of your 8 fingers or 2 thumbs?
