Warranty for Apple Products on Amazon

Hello,

Are Apple Products that are sold on Amazon such as the IPad Air 2022 (5th Gen) 256GB version covered by Amazon's warranty or Apple's one year warranty. If it is under Amazon's warranty, how long does the warranty last and what does that include?

Thank you,

George Chan

The answer to this question is simple. => It depends! 🤣

In all seriousness, though. The Amazon platforms is a fairly complex digital marketplace and isn’t always straightforward to navigate.  Fortunately for anyone interested in the answer, I’m hyperanalytical and have already built a reasonably functional mental map. 🙃

Basically, more information is needed to answer your question accurately. Specifically:

  1. Who is the vendor (aka, ‘seller’ on Amazon platform)? It might be Amazon, but it could also be a third-party vendor selling on Amazon.
  2. What is the condition?  New, Open Box (for example, ‘Used-Like New’ via Amazon Warehouse), or Refurbished (for example, ‘Renewed’ if sold through Amazon’s Renewed program)

For Apple products, you’re probably covered by a return policy (depends on vendor) and possibly by a manufacture’s warranty (if new, and sold by an authorized retailer…and maybe if open box, tho this scenario has a couple potentially complicating factors). In some cases, notably refurbished items, you might receive a more limited guarantee in lieu of a warranty (I know if purchased through Amazon’s renewed program, there’s a 90d guarantee thru Amazon). and then you have options of purchasing additional coverage through either Apple or Amazon, but I can I think this is dependent on the specific circumstances.

I can definitely help with a specific case if you reply with the relevant parameters (just include a link to the Amazon product page). But I also tried to give enough information in the outline above to help you (and others) navigate independently from the Amazon platform. Lastly, I’m appending a few screenshots for visual reference (mostly snagged from the AirPods product page I happened to have open, but everything except price should be relevant to ipad).

🍀

Bonus PS: While specific details in this answer are geared toward Apple products (seeing as this is the Apple user forum and all), it’s worth noting that the underlying principles can be applied fairly broadly to any product on Amazon. 😉

Amazon is a vendor and an Apple Authorized Service Provider not the manufacturer of iPads or any other Apple product. Amazon does not issue warranties for Apple products. Apple warrants products "...against defects in materials and workmanship..." during the period of the warranty for repair or replacement is at its discretion.

You can read Apple's warranty statement in the USA for iPad Air, to pick one example: Legal - iOS Warranty Document Us - Apple. Other warranty statements can be accessed at Legal - Hardware Warranties - Apple.
