Am I able to go to apple to get my phone unlocked

Please define “unlocked”.
If it’s activation locked, you either need to recover access to your iCloud account or present Apple with the original proof of purchase for the device. If you don’t have proof of purchase and it is locked to someone else’s account, Apple can not unlock it.
If it’s carrier locked, only the carrier it is locked to can unlock it. Apple can not do so.
If you forgot the passcode, you can do it yourself. If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
