Can I use a stylus to write on an iPad

You need a drawing program to go with the stylus in order to draw on the iPad screen. Also, it sounds like you want to display the contents of you iPad on a large display like a projector. Is that true? Just not that only certain app display via the video-out adopter (VGA out and component out).

That depends. There are many programs that aren't drawing programs per se that let you do this. I use forScore for organizing sheet music for instance, and even that has an annotation mode that lets you mark up a score with your finger or a stylus. (I'm afraid I don't have a good suggestion for the best app for mathematicsteacher, though. Hopefully someone else will have some ideas.)

I tried a lot of freebie programs, I was mainly interesting in finding one that would let me draw and type in the same app and page. I finally settled on Penultimate. Currently it is $2.99. Now, if you wanted to purely write and not mix in typing text, then your choice of option is a lot larger.

For a stylus I bought the Silver Pogo Sketch from Ten One Design for $14.95, add in $4.99 for 4-7 business day First Class Shipping, which seems a tad much. But I have been happy with it. They sell a few other stylii as well.

You can use your fingers to write, things just seem more natural and more exact using a stylus than my fatter fingertips.

This is what I have - works like a charm. There are also some reviews on youtube if you want to see it in action - keeps the screen much cleaner too!

Yes you can use a stylus, this is what I've got and IMO is fantastic, seem to be able to type much quicker on the touchscreen keyboard.

Only problem I've has is I can't seem to get it to enlarge a page using double tap.
