Can you wear your Apple Watch in the shower?

Do you wear your Apple Watch in the shower? I got mine because I’m disabled and if I have a hard fall then I want 911.

Conceivably, yes, you can wear Watch in the shower.

Others have listed links around water resistance and how that can degrade.

I’m not sure Watch can detect a fall within a shower, as the few fall-related activations I’ve experienced have involved hard falls, or involved specific operations with certain very-much-not-gentle hand-held power equipment. I’m not sure I could manage to fall that hard within the confines of a typical-size shower stall.

Honestly, if that's a significant concern, I'd get one of the purpose-built systems for the shower. I know I've seen them advertised but can't remember any of the names.

I have Amazon Echos throughout my house, including a really cheap one in the bathroom, an Echo Flex, that plugs directly into the outlet. I also have my Amazon account hooked up to my cell phone service (Number Share) which is about 10 dollars a month. It will allow me to make calls by voice. It requires that your carrier offer that feature and, obviously, won't be helpful if you're unconscious.

Water resistance isn't a permanent condition and can diminish over

time. Apple Watch can't be rechecked or resealed for water resistance.

The following can affect the water resistance of your Apple Watch and

should be avoided:

  • Dropping Apple Watch or subjecting it to other impacts
  • Exposing Apple Watch to soap or soapy water (for example, while showering or bathing)
  • Exposing Apple Watch to perfume, solvents, detergent, acids or
  • acidic foods, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye
  • Exposing Apple Watch to high-velocity water (for example, while water skiing)
  • Wearing Apple Watch in a sauna or steam room
