iPhone 12 Photos (Library & Albums)

I have several hundred photos in my library (iPhone 12), so I created number of albums. After moving the pictures into my different albums, I deleted the picture in the library, but it also deleted in the album as well. Why?

can this be fixed, so can remove duplicate pictures from my library and still have them in my folder/albums?

thanks

George

Hello,

all photos are still in the library even if you move them to albums. As of today it is not possible to have a photo in an album but not in the library.

In the App Store there are many different apps that can manage and sort photos. I'd suggest that you take a look, browse around a bit to see if you find an app that fits your needs perfectly.

When you add a photo to an album, the album is just referencing the photo in the library. It does not hold a copy of the photo, just a reference to the one version in the library. The albums are like an index card to the library. Photos are only stored once, independent of how many albums are using this photo.

When you delete a photo from the library, it will vanish from all bums it has been added to. When you add adjustments to a photo in one album, it will be changed everywhere. This is intentional, so we can have the same photo in many albums without using extra storage.

I hope you could recover the photos you deleted from the Recently Deleted album, before they got permanently deleted.
