Is google photo app safe to store photos

I want to free up space on my iPhone, it’s full of pictures and I have google photos app but I’m afraid to remove the photos off my storage. Is this app safe and keep my photos? I do not want to purchase more space for my iPhone because I’ll fill that will photos too

Great answer, Lawrence! As with any valuable files, it is recommended to transfer photos to a Mac or PC (Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or PC - Apple Support); once you transfer photos to your Mac, you should also turn off iCloud photos on your Mac before deleting photos on your iPhone if you are planning to regain space and don’t plan to bump up your iCloud plan (Delete photos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support).

Free is good, but keep in mind that for .99 cents a month, you can easily bump up your iCloud storage to 50GB and can sync your photos across your Apple devices and have a very solid place to store your photos in full resolution! Load an Apple gift card to your account and you won’t have to worry about your credit card being charged every month! iCloud - Apple

Google Photos is an archiving service, so content that you store in it can be deleted from your phone. Note that this is one way; if you delete from your phone photos will remain in Google Photos, but if you delete from Google Photos it will delete from your phone. Note also that Google Photos won’t store full resolution photos unless you subscribe to Google storage and pay a yearly fee for it. So you are paying for storage either way.

There are a number of other cloud storage solutions, including Dropbox, box.com, Shutterfly, Amazon Photos and a bunch more.
