Deleted items and I'm still full
I have deleted nearly everything in my iCloud and after all that work, I LOST an additional 3GB of space! What else is there to delete?

Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan - Apple Support
In finder > applications > right click on unknown apps and move to bin , restart the Mac and empty the trash .
When a Mac and other apple devices are signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network , if you open system preferences > iCloud and uncheck the box of iCloud Drive a pop up window appears , showing to keep a copy of documents , and remove from the Mac .
( a ) if you had clicked on keep a copy , they will be archived in home folder that can be viewed by clicking on finder in the dock , take cursor on top menu bar > Go > Home > your user name > iCloud Drive ( Archive ) .
Note : you can delete personal files from iCloud Drive ( archive ) .

Thank you for your help. I tried deleting the archive, but the numbers did not change. I tried your other suggestions, which didn't seem to open up my storage. I deleted nearly all of my messages which only seemed to increase the GB in my storage. I don't know why Apple doesn't make this more straight forward.
Yes. I went through my messages and deleted nearly everything, including photos, docs, and conversations that were old and taking up space. This is where I actually went from 27GB to 30GB!
In Other Documents, I have no idea where those items are so I can delete them.
Thank you for being so helpful, but none of this changed my storage capacity. I just downgraded my storage to the free 5GB. Apple just lost a customer. Cleaning up your storage shouldn't be this complex. I guess they make it complicated so people will buy more storage. Again, thank you for your assistance. I hope you are enjoying the holiday.
