You need to stream it: Wirelessly Stream Videos and Photos to Apple TV or a smart TV from iPad - Apple Support

Most iPad models generically support AirPlay - and/or connection to a single external monitor using an appropriate HDMI Adapter. The most recent models of iPad Pro also support HDMI Alternate Mode/DisplayPort connections over USB-C. Compatible iPad models can be connected to a single monitor/TV.

You should note, however, that iPad does not support an extended-desktop view - but instead permits the iPad display to be “mirrored” to a compatible external monitor/TV, preserving the iPad’s screen aspect-ratio. The iPad can also “stream” media content directly to an attached monitor.

If your TV does not natively support AirPlay/AirPlay2 (Apple’s WiFi protocol for mirroring/streaming content to supported devices), you can add an AppleTV box to your TV - connecting the AppleTV via HDMI to your TV’s HDMI input. In all likelihood, this alone will be sufficient to stream content to your TV. If an AppleTV App for the service that you require is not available, your iPad can stream or mirror to the AppleTV box via AirPlay.

Alternatively, you can connect your iPad to your TV using an HDMI cable - and adapter suitable for your iPad….

Recent models of iPad, including your iPad Air, have a USB-C port. For these models you would require an Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter:

There are third-party alternatives to Apple Adapters, however, many do not support HDCP - this being required to display copyright protected content on an external display. Apple’s own Adapters do support HDCP.
