iMac not accepting password after power failure

After a power failure,my iMac shut down and now will not accept my password to open the iMac. How do I get in?

iMac 24″, macOS 11.6

If the iMac starts up to the login screen, then perhaps your wireless keyboard is un-paired. If the keyboard is a newer rechargeable one, try plugging it into your iMac. If not, then you may need to get and use a USB keyboard


If the iMac is not starting up to the login screen, then you will need to provide more detailed info about the iMac and screen that is showing.
